I’ve always enjoy sharing my art with others. Unfortunately, many of us don’t have extra cash lying around to purchase art. Art is a strange thing. It’s something that is dispensable to a lot of people yet for artists, creating is something we could never live without. So what do you do? Well, obviously I didn’t start creating things when I was younger because I had grandiose dreams of selling it to people. It’s just something inside of me that made me need to create things, for whatever reason or purpose. I don’t stop creating because people stop buying. In times good and in times bad, I’ve always given away art and have been fortunate enough in the process that some individuals have purchases some of my work.
For me personally, I don’t believe in selling everything. I like to give art as a gift, barter, sign of appreciation, etc. Selling art does have it’s place. If I want to be able to support myself solely with my art then I will need to work extra hard on marketing, etc. Regardless of all of that, here is a new project I am proposing.
I want to have a weekly contest with an original piece of art as the prize. The questions will be different each week and if you have any good contest ideas, be sure to send me an email at nathanmonkart@gmail.com. Much appreciated. The first contest will be give a title to these two pieces. They are untitled right now but whoever comes up with the most creative title/the one that I feel fits the best will win.
They are each 5″ x 7″ latex paint, spray paint, collage, on wood. All you have to do is put your submission in the comment section below. I will pick the winner and announce them the following Wednesday. Simple as that. Free original art for your home, office, or even give it as a gift. Pieces will range from collage on handmade paper to mini-sculptures. Spread the word. Who doesn’t like free art?
