    Free Work Wednesday – 10.13.10

Thanks to all who participated in last week’s Free Work Wednesday. I am starting to notice many of you enjoy ‘play on words’ as much as I do. Even those that don’t take that route end up having great titles. I know I keep saying it but I am amazed at what you guys come up with. I am going to be completely honest. It never even crossed my mind that the oval could represent an egg. After the fact though, it seems fairly obviously.

The winner of last week’s Free Work Wednesday is ‘broseph’ aka Joey Baugh with the title “Eggs Over Queasy”. I enjoy the title because of it’s play on words. It references two things that are in the piece. One: the egg and two: the solder puddle which could be reminiscent of vomit. And I also like the way it sounds……… “Eggs Over Queasy”. Well, congratulations Joey. The piece is now yours.

    This week’s F.W.W. piece – 10/13 – 10/20

For this week’s contest, I have a mixed media work on watercolor paper. The paper is 6.75″ x 10″. The materials used are ink pen, watercolor paint, shellac, glue, and collages images of a scarlet tanager, fossil, potatoes, red cabbage, children’s toy, old transistor radio, a woman’s arm, and geometric shapes. The blue brain was painted with watercolor, then cut out and pasted on this piece.

This work turned out really colorful. If you’ve seen my work, lots of color is not the exception but the rule. I just find myself choosing lots of bold colors. If one chooses to use all colors in the spectrum then one doesn’t have to worry about color theory. ;)   I’m only half kidding. Sometimes the colors I choose work really well and other pieces are a total failure. Such is life.

Now go ahead and put your suggested title in the comment section below and this piece could be yours. Good luck and as always, have fun!
